Interstellar Love Song
The Second Messenger
"A love separated by lightyears, a goodbye that echoes through the void."
Transmission Log
A love separated by lightyears, a goodbye that echoes through the void.
At its core, the song is a metaphor for a breakup. It’s the story of an alien who travels across the stars, only to fall in love with a human on our "planet so blue." But his mission ends, and his crew, seeing our world as "filled with pain and sorrow," decides to leave and never return. This song is his bittersweet goodbye. He tries to console his human love, promising that even when he's lightyears away, he’ll still feel her presence across time and space.
The Sound of a Distant Galaxy.
I wanted the music to feel as blended as the story. Part human, part alien. The song is built on the warm, organic feel of piano, acoustic guitar, and layered vocal harmonies, but driving the whole track is a groovy, dynamic electric guitar riff that gives the song a real bounce, pulling the bass and drums along with it. Combined with some subtle, sci-fi synth sounds, it creates a sound that’s hard to categorize but I think you can sense it's "space-rock" influence in its DNA.
A Decade in the Making (And the Song That Started It All).
This song is incredibly special to me, and I’m so excited to finally release it. The truth is, I wrote the very first draft of it back in 2012. It’s been living with me for over a decade, and it’s the song that truly "started it all" for my go-to writing style. That first idea of using space and science analogies to talk about human experiences resonated deeply with me, and this inspired me to write many of my other songs like Eternity, Chemistry, and Lost in Space. Interstellar Love Song is the one that kicked it all off.
Made By Humans.
One of the reasons I love this recording is because it’s a snapshot of friendship and family. While I played most of the instruments and handled the mix/master, I couldn't have done it without these amazing people:
- My Dad: He co-wrote the song with me, contributing the perfect opening and closing lines: "I've traveled the stars, only to find you..." That's his voice you hear singing the harmonies with me.
- Simone: You'll hear these haunting, beautiful, reverb-drenched "Ah's" in the background. That's the incredibly talented Simone. It’s a small part, but it’s one of my absolute favorite moments on the record.
- Zach: The funky, rhythmic bassline holding down the groove? That’s Zach. He was the perfect person to bring this bass line to life.
- Sean: Listen closely for a subtle, processed guitar line that sounds like an "alien signal." That's Sean using guitar harmonics and dissonant notes to create something beautifully chaotic.
It’s a track full of human performances and ideas, which is something I'm very proud of. Thank you for reading the story. I hope it makes listening to "Interstellar Love Song" an even richer experience.

LyricsI've traveled the stars only to find you And we fell in love on your planet so blue I wish it weren't true but it's my time to leave here I must escape Your atmosphere So please don't despair For it was always a short flare Like an asteroid That burns through the air Don't look to the sky It no longer concerns you You'll only see That I'm not there By the light of Terran night Out of sight, we take flight To a distant civilization With a different expectation Milky way, fade away But your gravity still pulls on me Like a star, super far I can see your glare from Wherever you are, I can feel you From lightyears away like a comet I'm not here to stay, and I know you'll say Explain it again, but I'm sorry, my friend Into the void And lost to the aether Forever your voice shall echo my name 'Cause the will of your people so tainted with evil You know I'd stay if I had a choice But the night we took flight was the last Of our kind Your world is filled with pain and sorrow And we shall not return tomorrow Milky way, fades away But your gravity still pulls on my heart Like a star, super far I can see your glare From wherever you are I can feel you From light years away like a comet I'm not here to stay and I know you'll say Explain it again but it's not that easy My solarian friend Milky way Fades away But your gravity still pulls on me Like a star Super far I can see your glare from wherever you are I can feel you From light years away like a comet I'm not here to stay and I know you'll say Explain it again but I'm sorry My friend I traveled the stars only to find you Then we fell in love on your planet so blue
