This song is a blast from my past, inspired by a real-life betrayal from someone I considered a close friend, a bandmate no less. We shared dreams of making music together, but those dreams were shattered when he decided to make a play for the girl I was dating.
Fueled by jealousy, he spun a web of lies to try and paint me as the villain. Little did he know, he would end up achieving the opposite of what he intended. Not only did he fail to win her over, but he exposed himself as a liar, fracturing our friendship and earning the scorn of our entire friend group.
This song is an expression of the emotions I felt then – the anger, the hurt, and ultimately, a sense of vindication. It's a story about loyalty, deception, and the lengths people will go to when blinded by their desires. More than that, it's a testament to how in the end, the truth will always prevail.
Listen closely, and you might hear the echoes of a broken friendship, the sting of betrayal, and the triumphant defiance of a love that wouldn't be swayed by lies. If you've ever had a friend betray your trust, you know the sting. This song's for you.
